bodacious bethany beach

this shouldn't surprise you but i had an adventure weekend this weekend. my freind jessi got this crazy idea that the beach in november would be a great idea. well, it turns out, she was right!! jessi's sister has a condo on bethany beach in delaware so we (ben, cubbie, jenica, jessi, mark and i) headed up there after work on friday for a fabulous time. there was a storm a brewin' or a hurricane somewhere because it was windy and the waves were huge and the sky was gray. it was really pretty. this picture does not show how big the waves were but they were big. our private beach. i don't think anyone else was crazy enough to come to the beach. it was COLD!! our cute little path to the beach
this is what the wind does to mark's hair. his ornery face and surly attitude are not caused by the wind. here are the four of us who decided to brave the frigid waters. notice how bundled up we are to even go out in the air, let alone the waters.
the ocean is clearly not happy about our choice.
this is us after we braved the waters. ben, mark (too cool for school) me and cubbie.
after the polar bear swim, we were freezing so we showered and all cuddled up in bed together. 6 people in 2 twin beds is very warm. we all took a little nap. the we made a fire on the beach. it is delightful to go to the beach after labor day because there are no rules. fires are fun. but helen keller was there. i could not see for all the smoke and i whined and complained about it all night.

jessi and jenica. check out jenica's scared face.

ben and cubbie, making smores

mark and helen
of course on our last day there, the weather was really pretty . the ocean was not so angry so jessi and jenica and i sat on the beach and watched mark skim board. we criticized his technique and laughed every time he had a bad spill except the time he landed on his head. he was fun to watch because he would fall and instantly pop back up and flip his hair. so funny and so baywatch. he ia a realy good skim boarder though and he can pop up faster than anyone i have ever seen.
he could never find his board after a fall and we would point and yell its location but he seemed to ignore us until we asked him why and apparently he is helen keller without his glasses! hahaha
f you get the chance, please go to the beach in november. it is delightful.

ooohhh...so does this mean i get to see you in 40-55 days? does it does it does it?

and you're right. bethany beach does look bodacious. you people must have shark skin in order to not freeze in those waters. i'm glad you've made it back, brave soul.
