i am finished!

this shouldn't surprise you but i finished the birdie sling!!! (i became semi obsessed with it's completion) it turned out pretty nice. there are a few things that i could improve on but I DID IT!!!! and i did it alone without handing it to my mom and having her do the hard parts and me sew the straight lines. i did have to call her quite a bit though. anyway, here are some pics! also i never finish projects so this is a big deal and also i have not sewed (sewn?) since high school and i can not follow patterns very well but this one worked out for me and i made pleats and gussets and i have no idea what a gusset really is!! (well kind of now i do but.... still!)

one sidethe insidethe other side (i know they are the same but i MADE this!!) call me martha. and i mean washington not stewart because i bet she was crafty too.

sew on and sew forth

this shouldn't surprise you but i am not crafty one tiny little bit although i would like to be and i pretend i am. so this week i am going to take up sewing again and i have a project and the lady at the store told me she was sure i could do it. so here it is:

the birdie sling

and the exterior fabricand the accent fabricthe lining fabric does not match at all but it wont show and is a fabric i love.
see, it's weird and i knew you would think that but it won't show and i think it will be cute!! wish me sewing luck (heaven knows i need it). and these may be your christmas and birthday gifts!

our house, thus far.

sorry kole, this has been hard because i am computerally challenged. so, here is our humble abode thus far! we are waiting for our new furniture and i have no pictures of the guest room/office because i want to do befores and afters. so maybe the next post. anyhow, welcome. here above is the front door and the wall of the front door. here below since blogger won't let me type there is the bookcase and the view from the front door to the dining room. the arched door leads to the hall and the bedrooms and the door next to the wreath leads to the kitchen. the tiny kitchen. and the last shot is from the dining room into the living room (imagine it with furniture and a rug!!!!!)

the dining area
<----------- here we have the kitchen. it is little but it works marvelously. here is the fridge and clementine then a little shelf we have, then the view from the door from the dining room, then our rad floor (which mark loves and also told me it was mauve before we moved in. i am so glad it is not mauve!!!!) so, that is the kitchen and if you come, i will make you whatever you want to eat. it might not be good but i will try my darndest.

next we have our bedroom. now please, please keep in mind that we need a lot of stuff on the walls and i know a lot of what we have is uber dorky but bear with me people. we are poor. bed. dresser, walls, blah. you know the drill.

the hall from the bathroom

and the bathroom. narrow and cool tile. sweet eh?

fit the part

so, this shouldn't surprise you but the other day, mark and i were sitting in church and one of the guys from the bishopric came up to us and asked if we would talk to him after sacrament meeting. so we sat there and wondered what he could want. mark thought he wanted to ask us to speak and i thought that he wanted us to teach primary. so we sat there and listened to announcements and such and then all of the sudden the man who had spoken to us earlier as asking from the pulpit if we would stand. so we did. and then he called us to be primary teachers. then he got really flustered and said, "um, you need to sit down now" and then he explained to everyone that we hadn't been asked to be primary teachers yet. he was so flustered and the whole congregation was laughing. it was quite humorous. anyhow, so that is it, we are going to teach the 4 and 5 year olds. i am excited but a little leery. do you think the kids are going to listen to this man?:
hello, he has a neck beard. more evidence. it might frighten small children. so, do you think they will listen??he assures me they will. wish us luck, but at least this will keep my mind from wandering in relief society as it is wont to do.

eye

dear friends,

thanks for the concern about the eye but what should have excited you about that last post was the kitchen aid!!!!! oh well. not all of us can get excited about kitchen appliances. anyhow, they eye is not a good story. i fell asleep with contacts in and i think there was something in my eye and it got scratched around all night. so i am still dealing with the effects (or is it affects?). let that be a lesson to you all. do not sleep in contacts....but i probably still will once this confounded eye heals.

loves, meg
