opposite day

this shouldn't surprise you but i am not fashion forward at all. most of the days of my life, i look like a complete scrounge. well i am trying to be better about that but well, i am not so good. anyway, i bought a new pair of shoes at target the other day (because i am cheap) well they were a little tight in the toes so this morning i brought a pair of socks to work and wetted them down and put them on with my new high fashion shoes and shoved my feet under my desk to avoid potential embarrassment. but of course i had to show them to my work friends for a good laugh. most people laughed except for mo who said, "come on megan, that is really ugly." i laughed a lot and then i took his picture while he was posing all cool with my rubber band ball that i once made here at work.
ps. if these shoes are ugly, can someone please help a girl out and tell her. not darin, please.

liar

this shouldn't surprise you but i am a liar. i didn't make a new blog yesterday and i am probably not going to make one today on account of pictures!!! sadly the pictures are not even that great but my blog does not function well without them so, alas, you will have to wait until tomorrow. sorry.

listen

cram it, people. when i want to blog, i will. maybe i need a hiatus from blog world. or maybe i have nothing interesting to say. or maybe, friends, i am not computer smart and have not yet done anything with my pictures to make them readily available to post. so, the moral of this story is that: i have had some awesome adventures* and i have accompanying pictures and i will blog tomorrow about them because what is a blog without pictures?

a-drain

this shouldn't surprise you but i have a best friend and her name is adriane fox. yesterday, she turned the big 29. that means, she is old and we have known each other for 11 years. we became fast friends in the halls of morgan hall at utah state university and she made my years in logan a treat. i don't think i would have survived them without her. she is the kind of friend that will love you through thick and thin and you can tell her your deepest darkest secret, that you will tell no one else, and she will love you still and not judge you. that is a good friend. also, she is freaking hilarious. funny things are always bound to happen when she is around. once upon a time, emily, ade and i got a hankerin' to do some white water rafting. well, this was not to be since there was no real white water around us and it was late in the evening. so, we decided instead to blow up a raft (bad idea and bad headache) and take it to the logan canal.it was quite a sight when we strapped that raft onto the top of lloyd (please pronounce both l's) and went up logan canyon to brave the waters of the logan canal. and brave them we did. adriane nearly fell out of the not well inflated raft, due to its bounciness, and her head dragged along in the frigid waters for quite sometime since emily and i were laughing too hard to help her. she was not pleased but to this day, it is one of my favorite mental images. then we used the raft as a sled in the golf course. there have been many an adventure with adriane and i miss them all with my whole heart. i wish i could see her every day and play like we use to with reckless abandon. cruel adult world. alas, i love adriane and according to her blog, she had a fabulous week of birthday festivities. i only wish i could have taken part. i love you ade, happy birthday! ps. come to virginia.

hotties

this shouldn't surprise you but on tuesday nights at iwo jima, the marine corps national memorial, the marine corps silent drill team and the marine corps drum and bugle corps from the marine barracks washington dc, do a sunset parade where they play music and do their parade routines. it is pretty cool to watch. on tuesday of this week, mark and i met down there after work and watched them. it was the last one of the summer and i was glad we got to go and see all these hotties in uniform doing their stuff. and since my dad was a marine, i thought of him the whole night. i wish he could have been there with me. it is amazing to see their discipline and hard work. if you are ever in dc in the summer on a tuesday, this is well worth watching.

at the end of the program, one man played taps on top of the memorial. it was so neat. gave me chills

invisible children

this shouldn't surprise you but a few months ago some friends and i took part in a peace demonstration. it was for the displaced people in uganda. we hauled our sleeping gear onto the national mall and slept under the washington monument in the name of peace. it was cool. so for this movement, they sell these bracelets made by people in the camps to profit children affected by the war.
anyway, i thought they were cool and a few days ago, mark surprised me with one that he had ordered months ago and it finally came. hurrah. i am all about fashionably supporting children. i am also all about unfashionably supporting children.

here is a small video about the event.

i am moving

You Belong in London

A little old fashioned, and a little modern.
A little traditional, and a little bit punk rock.
A unique soul like you needs a city that offers everything.
No wonder you and London will get along so well.

vermonty python

this shouldn't surprise you but i just had a fabulous weekend. i went to vermont. for those of you who do not know... i was a nanny for a family in slc while i was in school. they are delightful and since i didn't get to see them while i was home in july, i decided to visit them in one of m y favorite places in all the land....shrewsbury, vermont and i decided to drag mark along for the adventure and also for the 9 hour drive and also because he is cool. so, we left work at 1 and started our "9 hour drive". it turned in to 11 and 1/2 but it was fun and i got to add a state to my state count. i have now been to new york people. all we did was drive and here is proof of that.... and mark even let me rest all my chins on his shoulder.
we finally arrived around midnight to a dark and quiet house and made ourselves at home and went to bed. on saturday, we were awakened by very excited children very early in the morning. we ate breakfast and then we went out to survey the land and see all the sights since mark had never been there. i think he liked it because it is BEAUTIFUL. we also tried to catch frogs and salamanders and tadpoles but we were not very successful.

after that we got ready for the day and drove into rutland to go to the farmer's market and pick up some things for dinner. zev and mark and i ran into walmart to use the facilities and we were looking at cards that play music and we were all into them and then zev turned around and was in heaven when he saw all the princess cards. he is totally in to princesses and pink and mark and i got a kick out of his enthusiasm. we stayed in rutland for a while and then headed back up the mountain and went swimming. after this, we looked like complete hell. we stayed in our swimsuits and had sweet hair and played with the kids and every once in a while, i would look at mark and just giggle and then get a glimpse of myself in a window or something and gasp in horror at how atrocious i looked. around this time, zev found a 2 seater go kart in the barn so we dragged it out and pulled it up hills and rode it down. it was so funny. zev was laughing so hard, he couldn't even talk and mark and it was really fun. asa joined us later and i think kirstie was a little leery but we threw caution to the wind and carried on.

we may or may not have broken the go kart. then we had dinner with the lovely gulick and rosenfield peeps. here are some introductions: micah was there. kirstie was there

george and bobbi were there and they were great to let us stay in their beautiful house and eat their delicious food. and asa, zev and ezra were there. they are so cute and getting so big.

and of course mark and i were there. here is mark in all his beautiful glory. good thing i had the camera this day!!!

after dinner we put the kids to bed and hung out with the grown ups and went night swimming. it was pure delight. on sunday, mark and i got up early and went to church and then on the drive home we stopped and saw a covered bridge. it was fairly cool. when we got home, the kids were in the pool so we hung out poolside and i got to wear this:bobbi's friend martha down the road wanted the kids to come to her farm and see her animals so we all piled in the car and went to the farm to see the goats and sheep and cats (nasty) and asses. zev had his two "special girls" there

this is the nasty cat
this is what the nasty cat did to my eye and i was so nice to it.martha had this huge tire swing, so of course we took advantage. i let zev take some pictures....not too shabby but pretty funnythen we had another relaxing evening and went to bed and said our sad goodbyes and were on our way. we stopped in new york to visit mark's cousin and stayed for 4 hours and then we did this:

and a few rest stopswe arrived home very late and were tired for work but it was oh so worth it. best weekend i have had in a long long time. thanks rosenfields and gulicks and thanks mark.

maurianna

this shouldn't surprise you but i love mauri. and today she is turning 23. whoa. she is the sweetest girl a gal could want and i am glad she is my friend. many of you may not know this but she is an excellent dancer and will demonstrate her skills in the heat of an arkansas summer. also she excellent at almost anything she tries. she is a cowgirl at heart and so if you have a horse and you are a boy and you want to know a swell gal...call marg. who doesn't want a cowgirl that can bust a move. also maur is so freaking cute and stylish. she is my hero and i love her with all my young girl heart. happy birthday marg.

bowling

this shouldn't surprise you but i am a terrible bowler. i have never gotten over 100 in a bowling game. sad to say but oh so true. so the other night when people at work invited mark and me out to go bowling, i was ready. ready to beat the bad bowling rap that i have. we went with heather and troy and josh and kit. i think josh and troy are pro bowlers because they schooled us in the first game. i think i got a 62 and was in last place. i suck. then i became a dark horse and in the next game i totally tied mark for 2nd place.and i got a 102!!!! that is unheard of for me. woot! i am awesome which is why my initial on the screen was A.

if any of you want to go bowling, i can teach you some sweet moves AND i might even clog for you.

clowns

if anyone had any questions as to whether or not janelle was nice, the answer is a resounding no! i want to post the pictures of the atrocities that were done to me but they are a bit freaky. pure evil. all this was AFTER i totally helped her load and secure her things in the back of her truck and almost cry every time i thought about her leaving. then i got up to bid her farewell at 5 on the morning (or 6) and all about was clown paraphernalia. i am freaked out by clowns and all things clown. they are just not right in the world. they shouldn't be a part of anything so if you ever have a party with a clown, count me out. or if there is a horse lying down or if it is dark. it was horrible to wake up to a waking nightmare. then it continued throughout the day as i found little clown thins everywhere. i stumbled out of my room into the bright lights of the living room and there was matt in clown glasses and nose. then they went on their way and i got ready for work and as i slid the shower curtain closed, there was the freakiest clown staring at me. i threw it on the floor where it remained, face down, until kelli picked it up a few days later. i refused to touch it. then i did not discover my car until after work because i take the metro. so i got in the car to go to mark's house and there were clowns EVERYWHERE. i couldn't touch ANYTHING. so i gingerly drove to mark's where he removed all traces of clowns. freakiest drive of my life. however, i did tuck the clown pinata into darin's bed and that was fun. he is now a close friend of darin's and is named darby. i am facing my fears in a big way with these pictures but they are kind of funny.

the hate text i had to send after all the creepiness went down. boy am i glad she is gone (sniff, sniff)

now

dear emilita,
your excuses are empty and futile. start a blog now because you will love it and so will we and the world will be a happier place.
insisting,
megan
